Human Factors

Human Factors is the scientific analysis of all of the elements that affect performance, with the aim of understanding human behaviour and performance. When applied Human Factors knowledge is used to optimise the fit between people and systems in which they work in order to improve safety and performance. Considerations taken into account are the physical and cultural environment, user technology interface, equipment design, team working, standard operating procedures and individual factors such as stress, fatigue, decision making, workload management and communication.
